Plans to upgrade hotels in the mountains and countryside are underway

The current scheme shows an expenditure of EUR 4.7 million, with a total project budget of EUR 9.4 million.

The Ministry of Tourism has announced a call for applications under the Grant Scheme for hotel and tourist accommodation upgrading projects in the countryside. This includes grants of €4.7 million in the first phase and a total of €9.4 million from the EU's Recovery and Resilience Mechanism. The project's goal is to enrich, modernize, and improve the quality of their products and services, to develop new products and services related to alternative forms of tourism, to serve specialized seasonal needs and specificities, and to modernize services through digital upgrading.

It should be noted that the program in mountain, peripheral, and remote areas will cover 75% of the total cost of the eligible refurbishments, excluding VAT. The program will cover 65% of the total cost of the eligible refurbishments, excluding VAT, in rural areas, and 50% of the total cost, excluding VAT, in other areas.

Interested parties can obtain the final Guide to the Scheme, which contains all of the details, as well as the Annexes, including the Application Form, from the Ministry of Tourism's website, www.tourism.gov.cy, under the category "Incentives & Grants".

Applications will be accepted until December 1, 2023, at 12 p.m., or until the available budget is depleted, and priority will be determined on a first-come, first-served basis (direct evaluation), with the maximum number of approvals not exceeding the call's available budget.
